Associate Professor, Art & Design
Jamie Tucker teaches in the Art Department at Northwest Nazarene University. She graduated from Indiana State University with her Master of Fine Arts degree in Photography. Jamie has lived several lives, including being a sports photographer on the wild Arkansas River in Colorado, and working for a mission organization as a Graphic Designer/Photographer in Guatemala, Central America. While she continues to speak Spanish and travel internationally, most of her time is spent teaching, working with students, being with family and enjoying nature, in beautiful Idaho.
A unique part of Jamie's artwork is the experimentation with medium format cameras, and alternative processes. Her love for these processes is a part of what she considers the mystery of photography; they facilitate a new way of seeing the world.
Assistant Professor, Art & Design
Amy Gilles teaches Studio Art at Northwest Nazarene University. She is originally from the Midwest, where she graduated from The University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign with her Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting. Amy is passionate about being outdoors and much of her artwork focuses on the experience of walking and coming to know and feel connected to a particular landscape by moving through it. Her work has been shown in Chicago and throughout the Midwest.
When not on a hike or a bike ride, Amy loves working with students in the studio, classroom and individually. She loves ideas, discussion, and the creative process in general and is continually learning and exploring along with her students.
